SCORE

Squint Entertainment's new rock band 38th Parallel will be hitting the spotlight hard this summer with an intense marketing campaign focusing on "Horizon," the group's first single from it's debut project and July 2 release, Turn the Tides.

Released to rock radio May 31, "Horizon" will also be featured this summer on Wal-Mart's exclusive compilation sampler, Sonic Fuel. The song will be included on 100,000 music samplers available August 27 at Wal-Mart stores nationwide. To further amplify 38th Parallel's marketing support utilizing "Horizon," Word Distribution will also disseminate 150,000 music samplers to retail outlets for its national "You've Got Music" promotion this summer.

Along with the retail samplers, the hard-edged song "Horizon," which highlights the band's trademark not-so-urban hip-hop with vocal harmonies, will be 38th Parallel's first music video. Featuring an elaborate stage production before a live audience at Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center Annex, the video was recently recorded in 16x9 widescreen, 24-frame-progressive high-definition (24P HD) format, an arrangement resolving just over two million pixels per frame that matches the frame rate of theatre films.

As the momentum for the release of 38th Parallel's Turn the Tides continues to grow, the band has set up a new website to keep in touch with its broadening fan base. Since June 1, net surfers can view either a flash website complete with video clips or a standard html site suitable for dial-up modems. Once accessed, fans can listen to music from Turn the Tides, view images, obtain information about the band, including tour dates, and even subscribe to 38th Parallel's email list. To view the website, log onto www.38thParallelmusic.com.

Recently completing a 35-city tour with Skillet and The Benjamin Gate, music fans will also be able to see 38th Parallel at a number of key festivals this summer, including Creation East and West, Lifefest, and Sonshine. The band is also scheduled to perform at several Youth Specialties events this winter. With similarities to P.O.D., Project 86, and Linkin Park, 38th Parallel is one of the most hard-edged bands on Squint's roster. Under the production of Tony McAnany (P.O.D., Missy Elliott, Jennifer Knapp), Turn the Tides hosts songs expected to appeal to a large youth market.

Squint Entertainment, home to Sixpence None the Richer, 38th Parallel, and Souljahz, is a progressive label focused on making modern music relevant to today's youth culture. Squint Entertainment is a division of Warner Music Group, an AOL Time Warner Company.
