Jeremy Camp kicks off 2004 with major succes; readies new CD and tour

BEC Recordings’ singer/songwriter Jeremy Camp closed 2003 and begins his 2004 with amazing success.  From sales to radio, Camp is making a mark in this industry with his tremendous songs and ability to capture audiences nationwide.

Camp’s debut project, Stay, which released September of 2002, continues to be strong on the sales and radio charts and since its debut, the project has sold over 168,300 units, with 142,846 sold in 2003 alone.  In fact, the second half of 2003 showed that over 103,000 were sold during that time, averaging 4,000 units a week.

Stay yielded multi-format radio hits, achieving three No. 1 songs.  Its first single, “Understand,” reached No. 1 on both the R&R and CRW’s CHR charts.  “I Still Believe” topped CRW’s CHR, was No. 2 R&R CHR and top 5 AC.  At present, the popular single is at the top of the playlist for Sonshine FM and is also featured on WOW 2004 while “Enough” appears on the new WOW Worship.

Currently, one of his radio singles, “Right Here,” is No. 3 R&R/CHR and No. 12 R&R/AC.  It is also No. 3 for CRW’s CHR chart and climbed from No. 35 to No. 12 for CRW/AC.  “Right Here” is CRW’s highest gainer for the week (Jan. 19th issue).

The single “Take My Life” reached the top spot on CRW’s Rock chart and No. 2 on R&R/Rock.  “Walk By Faith” will be Camp’s next radio single, hitting the radio airwaves this spring.

In addition, CRW’s year-end issue, December 22, 2003, lists Jeremy as the No. 1 CHR Artist of the Year.  R&R tapped Camp as the top new act for 2003 in their New Artist of the Year Survey.

Radio can’t get enough of Jeremy Camp.  Here are just a few of the numerous comments that have come in about him:

“Jeremy Camp has proven to be the ‘most popular’ artist on Air1 since his
debut song ‘Understand’ came out last year.   Jeremy has since given us
four of our top songs in 2003.  The Air1 audience even voted him as “Artist’ of the year. We can’t wait to see what he comes out with next!”

-Bryan O’Neal, Air1’s Program Director

“We are thrilled to be a part of Jeremy Camp’s incredible success at radio this year.  ’I Still Believe’ was one of our top songs of 2003. Our listeners love him.”
-Jason Sharp, PD at WCQR in Johnson City/Bristol

“Jeremy Camp's arrival on the scene was perfect timing.  CHR needed a sound like his, and he delivered before the need had passed.  It's an amazing thing to see just as many Jeremy Camp songs in our rotation already as there are Steven Curtis Chapman songs.  That makes the next 10
years of Jeremy Camp something to anticipate.”
    -Mike Couchman, Program
Director, WAYG/WAYK in Grand Rapids

Camp is ready to offer the much-anticipated Carried Me: The Worship Project releasing on BEC Recordings February 10th.  Carried Me, the answer to numerous requests for Camp to share an essential and favorite part of his live show – worship, features known worship songs like “Enough” and “Wonderful Maker,” also offers songs penned and co-penned by Camp and many others.

He will tour with Newsboys and Rebecca St. James this spring on the “Adoration Tour” before hitting the main stages at the summer festivals.

After touring with Festival Con Dios earlier this year, Camp headlined the “Stay Tour” this fall, averaging over 1,000 people a night with ten sellouts in the first half of the tour with over 500 people dedicating their life to Christ over the course of the Fall 2003.
