Caedmon's Call achieves 1,000,000 career albums sold
|
Essential Records’ acoustic folk/rock band Caedmon’s Call arrives at a milestone in its decade-long career this month; the group reached cumulative sales of more than one million albums. Frontman Cliff Young remains on the cutting edge of new talent, continuing his partnership with Watershed Records, while recently facilitating a record contract for Essential signee Silers Bald.
With five acclaimed records to its credit, Caedmon’s Call is one of the most successful Christian bands to cultivate the discriminating college and university circuit. Industry and fans gathered to celebrate the million mark at a recent event sponsored by Houston’s KSBJ radio station. KSBJ helped to commemorate the occasion with a plaque presented to group members on stage after a local performance.
The station’s program director, Jon Hull, comments, “As the band’s home radio station, we were thrilled to be a part of this momentous occasion. Having sold this many records is an honest reflection of Caedmon’s dedication to its calling.”
Robert Beeson, senior vice president of A&R for Provident Label Group, also reflects on the band’s accomplishment. “It’s rare to witness such consistency in sales over an extended period of time, in any genre,” he says. “I always felt that Caedmon’s displayed this kind of potential, but ultimately it’s a testimony to the group’s incredibly devoted fans.”
