Joy Williams, LaRue, & Phat Chance take a stand for sexual purity

On Wednesday, February 13, 2002, live from Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, Reunion recording artists LaRue and New Artist of the Year Dove Award nominee Joy Williams participated in "Seize the Net Goes Live."

"Seize the Net Goes Live" was a FamilyNet broadcast celebrating purity across the nation. The one-hour program was hosted by Reunion's brother/sister duo LaRue. The broadcast featured label-mate Joy Williams and True Love Waits founder Richard Ross.

"It is encouraging to see these teenagers take a public stand on remaining pure," Williams stated after the event. "This is all about changing lives, and these guys are doing it." Williams underscores True Love Waits as a key ministry in the lives of teenagers across the nation. "This is so vital," she said. "And I am so honored to be a part of an event of this nature."

LaRue noted they believe the current generation of teenagers is curious and wants answers to the tough questions in life. "Sexual temptation is so strong," Phillip states. "I'm 20-years-old and I don't know any person my age who isn't tempted by sex. Sometimes the church washes over stuff like that, but events like True Love Waits say temptation is a real thing."

"It's okay to talk about it," Natalie added. "Sex is a beautiful thing that God created for us to enjoy within his guidelines. True Love Waits challenges both adults and teenagers."

"Seize the Net Goes Live" was televised with more than 1000 youth on-hand at Wedgwood Baptist Church. Throughout the broadcast, youth were encouraged to log on to www.truelovewaits.com and make pledges to remain sexually pure. More than 77,000 teens around the nation made online commitments to remain sexually abstinent until marriage as part of the "Seize the Net Goes Live" True Love Waits event.
